The Charities

We are raising money for two charities.

The main charity relates to Autism.

Autism – Still a relatively unknown disability, autism is a lifelong development disability that affects a way a person communicates and relates to people around them. Children with autism have difficulty with everyday social interaction thus their ability to develop friendships becomes limited as is their capacity to understand people’s emotional expression. Special education and structured support can really make a difference to the life of a person with autism, helping to maximise skills and achieve full potential in childhood. Funding for children to attend these special schools is limited and education is expensive.

We hope to be able to help autistic children both on a national level in the UK with The National Autistic Society www.nas.org.uk and also on a local level by contributing towards a child’s education.

The National Autistic Society exists to champion the rights and interests of all people with autism and to ensure that they and their families receive quality services appropriate to their needs. The website includes information about autism and Asperger syndrome, the NAS and its services and activities.

The second charity is another charity relating to children and they are Good Sports in Boston www.goodsports.org. Their aim is to increase youth participation in sports fitness and recreational programs by targeting one of the major obstacles to limiting participation, namely access to sports equipment. Good Sports distributes sports equipment to community organisations offering programs to disadvantaged children helping them lay the foundations for healthy active lifestyles.
